G. Vivian (Wilson) Haas, age 92, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, in Liberty, Missouri. Vivian was born June 5, 1918, in Creston, Iowa, to William Grier and Zenida Wilson, the youngest of 5 daughters. After high school she attended a teacher's college and went on to teach in a one-room school just outside of Creston, Iowa. In 1938, she met Howard K. Haas and they were married in 1939. They lived in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and moved to Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1950. During the 1970's she worked at Chillicothe High School in the counselor's office. She was active in P.E.O., 19 Club, Questers, Bizzy Belles, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, and Chillicothe United Methodist Church. One of her passions was history and she did extensive genealogy research in both the Wilson family and Haas family. She gave generously of her time to assist others in searching their family roots. She also enjoyed quilting and needlework and was an avid reader. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley A. Blankenship and husband Walter, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and Lynn D. Hirst and husband Wes, St. Joseph, Missouri; two sons, James H. Haas and wife Wilda, New Bloomfield, Missouri, and Robert W. Haas and wife Vicki, Liberty, Missouri; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 58 years, Howard Haas. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
