Freda Irene McCracken
Freda Irene McCracken, age 96, a resident of Ludlow, Missouri, a former resident of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at her granddaughter's residence.
Freda was born the daughter of James Calvin and Etta Mae (Shockley) Key on June 7, 1924, on a farm west of Waverly, Missouri. She was a graduate of Tina High School. After graduation, she earned her teachers certificate from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Missouri. She taught grade school at Stagner and Locust School. They were country schools west of Tina, and were later integrated with Tina School. Freda was united in marriage to Raymond Merl McCracken on June 3, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas, when he was released from the Army as a corporal. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1996. They had three children, Charles Lee, David Ray, and Norma Lynn, as well as a still born son.
Survivors include two sons, Charles McCracken and wife Marcia of Springfield, Missouri, and David McCracken and wife Carolyn of Ludlow, Missouri; one daughter, Norma Chipps and husband Rob of Bolivar, Missouri; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; one infant son; one sister, Mary Helen Grozinger; and one brother, James Key, Jr.; and one nephew, Jim Grozinger.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Blue Mound Cemetery, Dawn, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Grove Christian Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
