Freda J. Akerson

Freda J. Akerson, age 63, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Freda was born in Sentinel, Oklahoma, on January 16, 1948, the daughter of Tommie and Bertha Laverne (Pate) Dempsey. She was a 1966 graduate of Cordell High School, Cordell, Oklahoma. On June 17, 1966, she was united in marriage to Roy W. Akerson in Cordell, Oklahoma. They moved to Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1967. She worked for over 30 years as a chiropractic assistant and secretary to Dr. Frank Stark. She was also a part time sales clerk for Sensenich Jewelry. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Chillicothe, Missouri. Freda liked to sew and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Roy of the home; daughters Tonia Lynn Akerson and companion Kris Golden of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Tammy Widner and husband Scott of Gallatin, Missouri; sisters Joyce Ann Swanda and Kathy Ann Yandell, both of Carnegie, Oklahoma; grandchildren Alyison, Josie, Mackenzie and Nicholas Widner, all of Gallatin, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and an infant sister. A private family graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, July 25, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call Lindley Funeral Home on Monday from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Freda Akerson's Grandchildren's Education Fund and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
