Francis "Kelly" Smith Francis "Kelly" Smith, age 53, a resident of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. Kelly was born the son of Sherman and Mary Elizabeth "Connie" Smith on June 19, 1959, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Kelly graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1977, where he was an outstanding athlete - he was honored his senior year as a Missouri All-State football player for his outstanding performance with the Chillicothe Hornets. He worked through high school and college in his family's farming operation. Following graduation from the University of Missouri-Columbia where he majored in agricultural economics, he worked in the commodities' trading industry for 20 years and more recently in billboard development industry. He was united in marriage to Halene Leslie Weiss on November 21, 2009, where the service was performed by a Priest and a Rabbi. Those fortunate to know Kelly will always cherish and remember his charm, kindness and enthusiasm for sports, the financial markets and animals. His favorite sports teams were the Mizzou Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals. He had a love for golfing. He was a life-long practicing Catholic. He was a member of the St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Kelly most recently attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help- Redemptorist Catholic Church, Kansas City, Missouri, and also The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Kansas City, Missouri. Kelly will always remain in the hearts of those who love him. He was cherished by those he leaves behind, including the love of his life, wife Hali Weiss Smith of the home; brother, Sherm Smith Jr. and wife Jill; sisters, Jo Ellen Smith and Kristi Smith Wyatt and husband Jerry. Also, in-laws, Gladys and Howard Weiss of Leawood, Kansas; sister-in-law Julie Ellis; nieces and nephews Danielle, Caleb and Sydney of Creve Coure, Missouri and Katie and Claire Wyatt of the Kansas City area. He also leaves his two devoted four-legged friends, Tango and Max. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Catholic Church, Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Catholic Church, Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, February 25, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Columban's Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayside Waifs and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
