Francis "Pete" Pope

Francis "Pete" Pope Francis "Pete" Pope, age 84, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at his residence. Pete was born the son of Dudley George and Sevilla Annette (Finch) Pope on April 28, 1930, in Sterling, Illinois. He was a 1949 graduate of Sterling High School, Sterling, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy from 1949 until 1973, during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Wars. He was united in marriage to Linda Knouse on August 25, 1968, in Raytown, Missouri. She survives of the home. Pete worked as owner/operator of Peter Pope Electronics from 1973 to 2009. Pete was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. Survivors include his wife, Linda of the home; one son, Joseph Pope and wife Stacy of Polo, Missouri; one daughter, Laurie Kavenaugh and husband Thomas of Ash Fork, Arizona; five grandchildren, Scott Clifton and wife Robin of Vancouver, Washington, Travis James of Tacoma, Washington, Tyler Sheeler of Chillicothe, Missouri, Conner Pope of Gilbert, Arizona, and Brittany Pope of Polo, Missouri; one brother, Arthur Pope of Sterling, Illinois; two sisters, Georgiana Lehr of Rock Falls, Illinois, and Mary Williams and husband Bud of Sterling, Illinois; and two brothers-in-law, John Knouse and wife Tonia of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Rick Knouse and wife Laieloni of Chillicothe, Missouri. He was also survived by mother-in-law, Margaret Knouse of Chillicothe, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kevin Francis Pope; two brothers, Walter and Daniel Pope; and father-in-law, Richard Knouse. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 2, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 2, 2015, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
