Frances E. (Lowrey) Braden
Frances E. (Lowrey) Braden, age 98, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on January 10, 2022, at her residence.
Frankie was born on November 4, 1923, to Everett and Harriett Lowrey in Tina, Missouri. After graduating valedictorian from Dawn High School in 1941 she went on to get her degree from Chillicothe Business College. Frankie moved to Kansas City and went to work for the Kansas City Quartermaster distributing fitness equipment to troops through the end of WWII.
Frankie met John R. Braden at a dance hall in Chillicothe, Missouri, while he was on leave during WWII. They exchanged letters during the war and were married March 2, 1946. Frankie spent most of her life in Livingston and Jackson Counties in Missouri. John and Frankie went on to have eight children: Patricia Bradley, Kansas City, MO, Terry Braden (Jeannette), Raymore, MO, Mike Braden, Thailand, Dave Braden (Alicia), Bonners Ferry, ID, Greg Braden (Marsha), Olympia, WA, Kathy Blank (Tad), Boise, ID, Becky Ortega, Kansas City, KS, and Jeff Braden (Lynn) Davenport, IA.
Our mother was one of the strongest and most stubborn women to ever walk this earth, traits that stood her in good stead as she raised her eight kids and supported them through life's joys and hurdles. Frankie was soft spoken with a sharp wit and strong competitive streak. She loved playing games and was an avid card player and crossword puzzle solver. Frankie gave her all to her family. We will never be able to fill the void left behind by her passing.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and their spouses, 15 great grandchildren, one sister, Jeanette (Peggy) Jones, and many nieces and nephews. Frankie was predeceased by her husband and parents as well as siblings Ethel Evans, Mildred Johnson, Albert Lowrey, Olive (Bot) Snider, Oren Lowrey, Gladys Stark, Dale Lowrey, Russell Lowrey and Joanne Roberts, and one grandson.
