Frances Leigh Lamp Frances Leigh Lamp, age 97, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Indian Hills Retirement Village in Chillicothe, Missouri. Frances was born the daughter of Brock and Grace (Kilburn) Smith on July 30, 1916, in Chula, Missouri. Frances had three brothers: Wade Louis Smith, Bill Smith, and Vernon Dale Smith and one infant sister Helen Gladys Smith who lived one year. She had a step mother Sarah (Waite) Smith. She attended school at the Smith School in rural Chula. She married Roy Lee Lamp on August 26, 1935 in Princeton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1990. They were married for 54 years. They made their home in the American bottom in Cream Ridge Township for two years, and then moved to the Jackson Township west of the American bottoms. She lived six years in those two places and then they settled on their farm in Jackson Township in the Potter school area. They sold their farm and moved to Chillicothe in 1963. Frances was a farm wife, working alongside of her husband and after they moved to Chillicothe she worked at Susan and Darr nursing homes and cleaned houses for people. She always enjoyed raising vegetable and flower gardens, fruit trees, and berry bushes. She liked to embroider and hand piece quilts. She attended Cornerstone Church and she enjoyed traveling places on the Oats Bus and Citizens Bank trips. Survivors include two daughters Sarah Elizabeth (Lamp) Howe of Chillicothe, Missouri and Darleen (Lamp) Wilson of Chillicothe, Missouri and one son Donald Junior Lamp of Chillicothe, Missouri; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and daughter in law Donna Lamp of Topeka, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother Sarah Smith; husband Roy Lamp; one son Bill Lamp; two daughters Grace Roberta Lamp and Carrolyn Joanne (Lamp) Welch; infant sister Helen Smith; three brothers, Wade, Bill, and Dale Smith; one daughter in law Sharon Young Lamp; two son in laws Clarence Douglas and Chester F. Howe Sr; one granddaughter Mary Douglas Howe Grime and one great grandson Levi Webb. The funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheeling Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home P.O. Box 47 Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
