Flo Mcnew

Flo McNew Flo McNew, age 94, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013, at Indian Hills Retirement Village, Chillicothe, Missouri. Flo was born on August 17, 1919, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Roy and Thelma (Hamilton) Blacketer, who owned and operated a drug store in Braymer, Missouri. On December 25, 1938 she married Olin McNew in Braymer, Missouri. They lived in California, Idaho, and Nevada before moving to Chillicothe in 1950. Mrs. McNew loved to buy and refinish antique furniture. She was a serious bridge player and enjoyed playing duplicate bridge at Chillicothe's bridge room. In 1962 she became a beautician and opened and operated Flo's Beauty Shop. Flo was a member of the Olive Prindle Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Chillicothe Garden Club, and Sorosis. In her advanced years she could be seen working in her yard and delivering Meals on Wheels until she was into her 80's. Survivors include one daughter, Susan Walker and husband Ed of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; two sons, Roy McNew and wife Lana of Flemington, Missouri, and Paul McNew and wife Carla of Cameron, Missouri; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Olin; one daughter Diana Sue; and one sister Mona Sue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. A parish rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, December 30, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, December 30, 2013, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
