Evelyn Harper, age 99, a resident of Tina, Missouri, passed away at her home of 71 years on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Evelyn was born June 28, 1912, in Mandeville, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Wesley Johnson and Lucy Ann Hardin. She graduated from Bogard High School. She married Percy Cobb November 24, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1976. On November 6, 1978, she married Leo "Jack" Harper. He preceded her in death in 2004. Evelyn was a homemaker. She was a founding member of the United Church of Tina in Tina, Missouri, where she formerly served as a board member for many years. She was a member of Braden HEO, Maple Grove Club, Taylor Club, and was a former 4-H leader. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and making quilts. She also enjoyed nature and visiting with all of her family and friends. Evelyn is survived by her two stepsons, Douglas Harper of Tina, Missouri, and Roger Harper and wife Rosalee of Norborne, Missouri; five step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Percy Cobb; husband Leo "Jack" Harper; four sisters, Beaulah Johnson, Edith Mills, Minnie Smith and Alma Harper; and three brothers, Alex Johnson, Dorsey Johnson, and Selvin Johnson. Funeral services will be held at the United Church of Tina, Tina, Missouri, on Monday, April 23, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Tina, Missouri, on Sunday, April 22, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Tina, Missouri, on Sunday, April 22, 2012, from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Tina and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
