Eunice Maurine Funk, age 91, a resident of Kirksville, Missouri, formerly of Wheeling and Laredo, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, Missouri. She was born the daughter of George Joseph and Flora Winnie (Woods) Mantlo on a farm southwest of Laredo, Missouri on July 28, 1919. She attended school at Prarie Valley School in Grundy County. She was united in marriage to Richard Lavaughn Funk on June 28, 1937 in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2003. She was a member of the Haseville Methodist Church east of Laredo, Missouri. She worked at the Lambert Glove Factory in Chillicothe, Missouri for 12 years. She was then a homemaker for several years, and then went to work at the popcorn world in Trenton, Missouri until she retired. Through the years she has made jellies of all kinds and did sewing for friends, family, and neighbors. In her spare time she started making crafts of wall hangings and quilts of about every pattern she could find. Eunice was a very loving person to her family, children, grandchildren; great-grand-children, and great-great-grandchildren. They always came first in her life. She is survived by her son Ronald L. Funk and daughter-in-law Martha of Kirksville, Missouri; 5 grandchildren Larry Funk of Kirksville, Missouri, Brenda and Jeff Riese, Craig and Jane Funk, all of Ankney, Iowa, Denise and Gary Wayman of Wheeling, Missouri, and Rob and Lisa Bowman of Kearney, Missouri; 9 great-grandchildren Amanda Riese of Fort Dodge, Iowa and USMC Lance Corporal Christopher Riese of Camp Pendleton, California, Abby and Ryan Funk of Ankney, Iowa, Daniel Funk of Kirksville, Missouri, Shelby and Josh Wayman of Wheeling, Missouri, and Brianna and Makayla Bowman of Kearney, Missouri; 1 great-great-grandson Bradyn Bowman of Kearney, Missouri. She is also survived by 4 sisters Betty Sallee, Loraine and Bill Ricehouse of Chillicothe, Missouri; Mary Gorman of Galt, Missouri; Lena and Donald Cooksey and 1 brother Bill and Joann Mantlo of Laredo, Missouri; 4 nieces and 4 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 1 brother, a daughter and son-in-law Carren and Dean Bowman. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a scheduled family visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call from 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Stucker Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Haseville United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
