Estelle Marie Gabel Estelle Marie (Krummel) Gabel, age 89 passed away in St. Joseph, Missouri, surrounded by her children on June 16, 2016. Estelle was born to August and Katherine (Bonenberger) Krummel in St. Louis, Missouri on November 20, 1926. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1944. After graduating high school she attended business school and worked for the Air Force small arms division of the Army where they made ammunition for WWII. It was through music that she met her husband, Floyd Martin Gabel, of 66 years. They married on October 15, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri. The couple welcomed the arrivals of 7 children, Melody Ann, Gloria Kay, Cynthia Joy, Gerald (Gerry) Floyd, Boyd Martin, Lisa Marie, and Angela Rae. Estelle worked outside the home until the birth of their first child, Melody. Her new role of devoted Mother was a perfect fit. Her love of music was on display through her beautiful soprano voice and playing the violin in many community orchestras. Her talent was very apparent early on while being selected to play in the St. Louis children's orchestra. She taught Sunday School throughout her children's lives as well as serving as Registrar for Girl Scouts for over 13 years. She often served double duty as the girl's leader. She also was a proud worker of the voting polls for over 30 years. Estelle was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Chillicothe for 50 years. She sang in the Chancel Choir and was a proud member of the Dorcas Circle. Among other community organizations, her time in the XIX Club was particularly enjoyable. Estelle was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, three children, Melody Ann, Cynthia Joy and Boyd Martin; her parents, August and Katherine Krummel; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin and Lillian Gabel; two brothers, Edward Krummel and Walter Krummel; one sister, Glorianna Moore; two brothers-in-law Darold Gabel and Bill Moore; three sisters-in-law, Mercedes Gabel, Jean Krummel and Ruth Krummel. She leaves four children and spouses, Gloria Warren, Gerry (Pam) Gabel, Lisa (Tripp) Allen and Angela (Kelly) Poling. Estelle was the grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Adam (Melanie) Warren, Christopher (Libby) Warren, Jessica (Jason) Johnston, Brett (Cori) Gabel, Brooke (Brandon) Rutstein, Bradee Gabel, Kacy Sager, Craig Sager, Krista Sager, Gabriel Poling, McKenna Poling and Maddison Gabel. She also held the proud title of great grandmother to 9 great grandchildren, Adam, Jr., Alexandra and Alaina Warren, Estella and Ethan Warren, Jocelyn and Jovey Johnston, and Benson and Beckham Gabel. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She served the Lord first and foremost. She loved hearing her children sing and watching them in all school functions and then carried that tradition over to attending all of the activities of her grandchildren. Her loving spirit was contagious but her smile was infectious! Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, June 20, 2016, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
