Ervin "Dub" Willis McCracken, age 89, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, formerly of Blue Mound, Missouri, passed away at his residence in Chillicothe, Missouri on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Dub was born the son of Harley Ray and Tabitha Jane (Powers) McCracken on January 12, 1922 near Dawn, Missouri. On August 31, 1942 Dub married Dolly J. Wooden in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives him of the home. He was a United States Army World War II veteran, serving as a Combat Engineer from 1943-1945. He received four Bronze Stars during his tour of duty. Dub was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union 1262, Tina Fiddlers Association, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dub is also survived by his daughter Margaret Sue "Susie" Calaway of Chillicothe, Missouri; four grandchildren Gil Dean Gates and wife Karen of Chillicothe, Missouri, Ginger Gates Jones and husband Pat of Chillicothe, Missouri, Lynette Smith Barton and husband Richard of Chillicothe, Missouri, Shane Smith and wife Shan of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; nine great-grandchildren Gabrielle Gates Thompson and husband Dustin, Geana Gates and Gillen Gates of Chillicothe, Missouri; Kylee Ireland of Chillicothe, Missouri, Hallee Jones and Hannah Jones of Chillicothe, Missouri; Scotty Smith, Sophie Smith and Spencer Smith of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; one brother Willard McCracken and wife Nina of Blue Mound, Missouri; one sister Veda Hughes of Blue Mound, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; one daughter Ruth Ann Gates; three brothers Ercil McCracken, Raymond McCracken and Chester McCracken. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation is scheduled at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home.
