Erika Lina Zimmer Erika Lina Zimmer, age 87, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Erika was born the daughter of Oswald and Johanna (Fuhrmann) Fritzsche on June 14, 1925, in Chemnitz, Sachsen, Germany. She was united in marriage to Gorden Zimmer on September 20, 1948, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1991. She worked as the Supervisor of the Leather Department at Lamberts Glove from 1953 until 1968. She then worked for Midwest Gloves from 1968 until 1987. Erika was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, where she served as a Ladies Aid. She was a member of the ASPCA, a former member of the Chillicothe Eastern Star, and a former White Shrine. Erika loved learning new things, feeding stray animals, and to read daily from the Portal of Prayer. Erika was a giver. Her Grandfather Fuhrmann taught her to never turn someone away, whoever comes hungry, always give them a sandwich. When Erika came to America, the first thing she noticed was the friendliness of the people. She enjoyed Ice Cream and Hershey Bars, a luxury she did not have in Germany. Survivors include two sons, Ron Zimmer and wife Donna of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Larry Zimmer and wife Ann'a of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Jeremy Zimmer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carrie Wilson, Brandon Zimmer, and Aaron Zimmer, all of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Heather Kurz of Springfield, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Gorden. Memorial service will be held at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 29, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 28, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chillicothe VFW Roy L. Burkett Post 858 and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
