Emma Dell Wallace Melte, 88, of Gallatin, Missouri, moved peacefully into her heavenly home on May 25, 2011. Emma Dell was born September 26, 1922 to Jesse Lee and Elsie Mae Wallace in Mayview, Missouri. Her family later moved to Braymer, Missouri, where she graduated from Braymer High School in 1941. After high school she attended Chillicothe Business College and worked in a bank after graduation. Years later she worked in a plant which made B-52's. She was most proud of the work she accomplished there. In 1950 Emma Dell met the love of her life, USAF Sgt. Thomas Melte. They were married June 26, 1951 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. They chose to leave military life and settled on a farm in Plymouth near Braymer, Missouri. Emma Dell was an active member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed helping on the family farm. For 35 years Tommy and Emma Dell worked, worshiped, and raised their four children until Tommy's death in 1986. Emma Dell then moved to Gallatin, Missouri, to be near her daughter Norma and became a member of the Gallatin First Baptist Church. When Emma Dell's health declined in 2008, she moved near her youngest daughter, Kimberly and her family, and resided at Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar, Missouri. In 2010 she moved back to the Gallatin area and resided at Cameron Rehab until her death. Emma Dell was preceded in death by an infant brother, Norman, her parents, her husband, Tommy, brother Lloyd, two infant great grandchildren, Hannah and Blake Prewitt, and daughter Glenice Prewitt. Emma Dell is survived by her son Wally Melte of Overland Park, Kansas, daughter Norma Curtis and her husband R.G. Curtis of Gallatin, Missouri, daughter Kimberly Roberts and her husband Brian Roberts of Bolivar, Missouri, grandchildren Robin Prewitt of Indianapolis, Indiana, Scott Prewitt of Overland Park, Kansas, Brian Prewitt and his wife Nikki Prewitt of Des Moines Iowa, Matthew Prewitt and his wife Angie Prewitt of Columbia, Missouri, Emily Miller of Birmingham, Alabama, and Zachery Roberts and Skyler Roberts of Springfield, Missouri, and eight great grandchildren: Alec Prewitt, William Prewitt, Ebby Prewitt, Isaac Prewitt, Moriah Prewitt, Chloe Prewitt, Mallory Prewitt, and Merrick Prewitt. A family visitation has been scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the first Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held on Sunday at the Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to Gallatin First Baptist Church Awana's Program, Gallatin, Missouri or the Alzheimer's Association and may be left at Pitts Funeral Home or mailed to P.O.
