Elizabeth Venable Elizabeth Venable, age 93, passed away at her home in Topeka, KS, surrounded by her loved ones on February 26, 2017. All who knew her will remember Elizabeth for her gentle nature, warm smile and generous spirit. She was born in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Maurice and Wilhemina Dorney. On November 26, 1948, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Bill Venable at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death. Elizabeth is survived by her five children; Susan Venable of Topeka, KS, Nancy Groves (Gary) of Topeka, KS, Julie Spiker (Kerry) of Dayton, OH, Mark Venable (Joyce) of Ankeny, IA, and Bob Venable of Hartsburg, MO; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Carol Venable; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Maurice Dorney, Jr., sisters, Helen Hecker, Mary Gatson, and Gertrude Timmons. Elizabeth's husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very fortunate to be recipients of her loving and caring spirit; she was happiest when surrounded by her family. Throughout her life Elizabeth was deeply devoted to her faith. She was a member of Mater Dei Catholic Church in Topeka and formerly a member of St. Columban's Catholic Church in Chillicothe, MO where she was a member of St. Anne's Altar Society. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1941. Elizabeth loved flowers and enjoyed tending to her garden. She was a former member of Chillicothe Garden Club. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a parish rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. A parish rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 3, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. with a family visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Columban's Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mater Dei Parish of Topeka, Kansas and/or St. Columban's Catholic Church Restoration Campaign in Chillicothe and/or St. Croix Hospice and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
