Elizabeth "Mayvee" Davies, 100, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at Indian Hills Nursing Home in Chillicothe. Mayvee was born in Bogard, Missouri on October, 12, 1910 the daughter of James R. and Martha E. (Denham) Applebury. She was a 1927 graduate from Tina High School in Tina, Missouri and attended CMSU where she obtained a life time Teacher's Certificate. On April 15, 1939 she married Clifton Davies in Liberty, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1996. Mayvee taught nine years in rural schools in Carroll County. She was a member of the Enon Baptist Church in Dawn, Missouri and taught Sunday and Bible School. She was also a G.A. and R.A. leader of the Enon Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Happy Hollow Extension Club, was a 4-H leader, and did a lot of community volunteering through the RSVP organization. Mayvee is survived by two sons, Donald Davies and wife Diane of Dawn, Missouri, and Larry Davies and wife Ann of Ludlow, Missouri; one daughter, Linda Moore and husband Dearl of Braymer, Missouri; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Emmett, Carl, Edwin, and Melvin, and one sister, Tillie Mosher.
