Eileen Lucille Bate, age 98, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Eileen was born the daughter of Herbert C. and Elsie (Kelsey) Brenneman on December 31, 1922, in rural Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a 1940 graduate of Wheeling High School, Wheeling, Missouri. Eileen was united in marriage to Edgar Eudell Bate on October 18, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2011. Eileen worked as a cashier and bookkeeper for J.C. Penney in Chillicothe, Missouri for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 25 of Chillicothe, Missouri.
Survivors include her son Dennis Bate and wife, Irma of Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar; infant son, Terry; one brother, H.C. Brenneman; and two sisters, Jeanette Switzer and Margaret West.
Graveside services will be held at Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 5, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Luke's Hospice, Chillicothe, Missouri, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
