Edwin "Eddie" Vorbeck
Edwin "Eddie" Vorbeck age 92, a resident of Leavenworth, Kansas, formerly of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday May 23, 2020, at his son's residence surrounded by his family.
Eddie was born the son of Scott and Elva (Wilson) Vorbeck on May 21, 1928, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a 1946 graduate of Chillicothe High School.
Eddie served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1947, and the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean conflict. Eddie was a member of the Chillicothe Kiwanis Club and attended Calvary Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Chillicothe. Eddie's father, Scott Vorbeck, and Ollie Parker purchased the land where the current Calvary Baptist Church building sits. Eddie helped dig the foundation when the building was being constructed. Eddie also owned and operated the Sno-Wite Laundry service for 20 years.
Survivors include: three sons, Bill Vorbeck and wife Lauren of Kansas City, Missouri, Jim Vorbeck of Hollister, Missouri, David Vorbeck of Springfield, Missouri; and one daughter, Brenda Vorbeck of Olathe, Kansas. He is also survived by two stepdaughters; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three nephews and extended family. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Vorbeck.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at the Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
