Edna "Fern" Eckert

Edna "Fern" Eckert Edna "Fern" Eckert, age 96, a resident of Laredo, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Eastview Manor, Trenton, Missouri. Fern was born the daughter of Robert Milton and Edna Maria (Lilly) Holden on February 19, 1920, in Arnett, Oklahoma. The family moved to Chula, Missouri, in the fall of 1933. She was a 1938 graduate of Chula High School. She was united in marriage to a local farm boy Charles Eckert on April 8, 1939, in Chillicothe, Missouri. They spent their first few years on a farm east of Chula. They moved to Laredo in the fall of 1957, always maintaining good health, and were converted into a life of faith in early years and were baptized into the Laredo Christian Church in 1958, while exerting her abilities and ambitions diligently in local affairs. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1980. Fern worked at Indian Hills Nursing Home as a laundry assistant for many years. Survivors include one son, Charles Ray Eckert and wife Wanda of Laredo, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kevin Eckert and wife Patty of Laredo, Missouri, Jason Eckert and wife Heather of Laredo, Missouri, Bryan Eckert and wife Jamie of Milan, Missouri, and Tina Eckert of Chillicothe, Missouri; and ten great grandchildren, Derek, Austin, Kia Ray, Clinton, Allisa, Shelby, Brandon, Jillian, Darien, and Jaydan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; two sons, Melvin and Lyle Eckert; one daughter, Carolyn Van Camp; and two brothers, Harvey and Robert Holden. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Laredo, Mo. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Laredo, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Laredo, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Richardson Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri.
