Eddie B. Stephens Eddie B Stephens, age 87, a resident of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center, Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Eddie B. Stephens was born on October 11, 1927, to parents Eddie Benton and Luhetta (Bush) Stephens in Lock Springs, Missouri. He lived in and around Jamesport, Missouri until he was 15 years old when he moved to Lee's Summit, Missouri, with his parents to live and work mowing the lawns and in the greenhouses on Longview Farms. Eddie served in the United States Air Force in 1946 for 18 months. He was united in marriage to Viola M. Bailey on July 3, 1949. She survives of the home. They moved to Breckenridge, Missouri in April of 1950. Eddie worked at the Utica Brick plant for a year and then went on to work at Nash Dealer in Chillicothe, Missouri, for Archie Campbell. In 1953 he rented a garage from Charly Vadnis and worked there for a year. He worked at the Ford Dealer in Hamilton, Missouri, until 1956 and then went to Kansas City and worked at City Motor exchange until September of 1961. In 1961 they moved back to Breckenridge and owned and operated a shop in the Old Rainbow Station on old 36 highway known as Ed's Transmission & Motor Clinic. He retired in 1998. In 2000 Eddie and Viola moved to Lawson, Missouri, to be closer to their girls and their families. Eddie was a member of the Baptist Church, Breckenridge, Missouri, Rayville Christian Union, Pilots for Christ, American Legion Murray-Tweedie Post #117, Braymer, Missouri, EAA Chapter in Chillicothe, Lions Club, Breckenridge, Breckenridge Volunteer Fire Department, and the Breckenridge City Council. Survivors include wife, Viola (Brownie) Stephens of the home; five daughters, Katherine Howell and husband Bob of Platte City, Missouri, Nancy Stewart and husband Lawrence of Lawson, Missouri, Shirley Stephens of Lathrop, Missouri, Donna Parker and husband Griff of Smithville, Missouri, and Brenda Bales and husband Stephen of Lawson, Missouri.; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, Serenity and Violet. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Martha Prothero; and one brother Charles Stephens. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist Church, Breckenridge, Missouri, on Friday, June 12, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Missouri, on Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Missouri, on Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Trosper Cemetery, Breckenridge, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Pilots For Christ Heartland Chapter and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
