Earle Samuel Teegarden, Jr, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Earle was born the son of Earle S. and Jennie Marietta (Dillener) Teegarden on August 30, 1935, in Kingston, Missouri. He was a 1953 graduate of Chillicothe High School. Earle attended the University of Missouri, until he enlisted in the United States Army in 1955. While in the Army, he served as a pay clerk with the finance section in Korea, and finished his enlistment as a Platoon Sergeant in 1958. After his enlistment, he returned to the University of Missouri, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1960. He was also a graduate of the University of Georgia Savings and Loan School for Executive Development, and of the Institute of Financial Education Financial Management Program. He also attended the University of Indiana Savings and Loan Graduate School. Upon his graduation from the University of Missouri, Earle was employed as an Assistant Bank Examiner with the FDIC, headquartered in Springfield, Missouri.
Earle was united in marriage to Renetta Fajen on June 18, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mission, Kansas. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2020. In 1964, Earle and Renetta returned to Chillicothe, Missouri, and within a month he became C.E.O. of what is now Investors Community Bank, where he was employed for over 35 years. Earle, along with Renetta, also owned Model Cleaners in Chillicothe for a number of years.  He was a 50 year member of the Chillicothe First Presbyterian Church, and was also a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church, and the First Christian Church, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Earle was very active in community groups, having served four terms as Chillicothe's First Ward Councilman. He also served as the past president of the Missouri League of Financial Institutions, Midwest Conference of Community Bankers, North Central Board of Realtors, Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce, Heart of America Scottish Terrier Club, Lewis and Clark Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution, and the Chillicothe Rotary Club, where he was also a Paul Harris Fellow. Earle served as the past treasurer of the First Christian Church, Chillicothe 1950 Maxi Reunion Committee, and the Livingston County Republican Committee. Earle was the organizer and treasurer of the Livingston County Humane Society, and was a charter member and treasurer of the Virginia Wall Scholarship Committee. He served as the past chairman of the Chillicothe Salvation Army, Missouri League of Savings Institutions, Livingston County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Earle was a member of the Animal Control Board, Vern R. Glick American Legion Post 25, Korean War Veterans Association, and the Midwest Field Office Advisory Council of the American Red Cross.  He was a life member of the Missouri Genealogical Society, and the Livingston County Historical Society, where he also served on the board. Earle was an Eagle Scout, was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, was the past chairman of the Ma-Has-Ka District, was a Firebuilder in the tribe of Mic-O-Say, and served on the Pony Express Executive Board.
Survivors include one son, Walter Teegarden and partner Josh Davis of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter Rosemary Girouard and husband Greg of Ballwin, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Renetta; sister, Helen Firestone; and brother-in-law, David Firestone.
A private family graveside service will be held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Kansas. Friends may call on Monday, April 26, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri.
