Dr. Roland Carl Louis Kappesser MD Dr. Roland Carl Louis Kappesser, MD, age 89, a resident of Utica, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at St. Luke's Northland Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Roland was born the son of Roland and Norma (Wiegmann) Kappesser on December 21, 1924 in St Louis, Missouri. He was a graduate of Beaumont High school, St Louis, Missouri. Roland went on to further his education at Washington University in St Louis, Missouri where he received his Bachelor's degree and graduated from Medical School. He served in the United States Army during World War II as part of the Medical Corps. During his service he was captured as a POW at the Battle of the Bulge and later escaped. He received the Bronze Star for his service. He was united in marriage to Netajean Rea Broome on June 12, 1948 in East St. Louis, Illinois. Roland returned to St Louis where he became the Chief of Anesthesiology at St. Joseph's in St. Louis. He served in that capacity for more than 35 years. Survivors include one son Carl Kappesser of Utica, Missouri. He is also survived by one niece, Marilyn, and one nephew, Russell Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Netajean, one son Roland Kappesser Jr., one brother Walter Kappesser, and two half-brothers Roy and Russell. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Grace Episcopal Church, Chillicothe, Missouri.
