Dr. George K. Meinershagen D.D.S. Dr. George K. Meinershagen D.D.S., age 102, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. George was born the son of Charles G. and Minnie (Korsmeyer) Meinershagen on January 30, 1913, in Higginsville, Missouri. He was a 1931 graduate of Higginsville High School, Higginsville, Missouri. After graduation, he attended Central Methodist University, Fayette, Missouri. He then attended the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry graduating in 1936. He served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1941 until 1945. George was united in marriage to Dorothy Brown on September 19, 1936, in Savannah, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2004. George worked as a Dentist at Dowell Clinic, Chillicothe, Missouri, from 1940 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, where he served on the church board and as former President of the board. He was also a member of the Chillicothe Masonic Friendship Lodge #89 A.F. & A.M., the Moila Shrine of St. Joseph, Missouri, Chillicothe Kiwanis, the York Rite Bodies, where he served as Chapter Commander and on the Council, the Chillicothe R-II School board member and served as former President, American Legion Vern R. Glick Post 25, and Chillicothe Elks Lodge #656. George was a member of the American and Missouri Dental Association. He was very active in Boy Scouts of American and served as an adult leader for over 20 years, achieving the Silver Beaver Award. Survivors include two sons, James Meinershagen and wife Verna of Troy, Michigan, and Dr. Charles Meinershagen and wife Susan of Redding, California; two grandchildren, Julia Meinershagen of Seattle, Washington, and Joy Meinershagen of South Bend, Indiana; three nieces; two nephews; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; one brother, Dr. William Meinershagen; and one sister, Irene Blerkschmidt. Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, May 16, 2015, one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, May 15, 2015, from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church and/or Chillicothe Salvation Army and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
