Dorris Allen Leakey Dorris A. Leakey, age 87, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at The Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer, Missouri. Dorris was born on March 20, 1931, in Hardin, Missouri, the son of James Allen and Sally Mae (Still) Leakey. He was a 1949 graduate of Braymer C-4 High School, Braymer, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Mae Boswell on July 4, 1952, in Grayson, Missouri. After their marriage they moved to Braymer, Missouri. Dorris was employed at Meierhoffer Funeral Home in St. Joseph for a period of time. He also worked for MFA Insurance for several years. He then started farming and farmed the rest of his life. Dorris was a board member for the Braymer C-4 School district. He was also a board member for Production Credit Association in St. Joseph for seven years. Dorris played lead guitar, sang, and was the clown for Buddie Boswell's Union Mill Opry in its early years. He also was a board member at the Consumers Oil & Supply in Braymer, Mo. Survivors include: one son, Mark Leakey and friend Becky Mitchell of Braymer, one daughter, Connie McPheeters and husband Steve of Liberty, Missouri, one sister, Jane Murdock and friend Bob of Camdenton, Missouri, three grandchildren, Scott Leakey and wife Shelby of Braymer, Bret McPheeters and wife Ashley of Liberty, Brooke McPheeters and fiancé Michael Villareal of Brooklyn, New York; four great grandchildren, Taylor, Courtney, and Morgan all of Braymer and Gavin of Liberty. Dorris was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie; one sister Anna Lee Clarke, and two brothers Roy Leakey and Eldred "PeeWee" Leakey. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, September 21, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Thursday, September 20, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Thursday, September 20, 2018, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Compassus Hospice and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
