Dorothy D. Kemp Dorothy D. Kemp, age 98, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Carroll House, Carrollton, Missouri, with her children by her side. Dorothy was born on November 5, 1916, the fourth of ten children born to E.B. and Ruth (Schaffer) DeBolt on a farm in Rural Hale, Missouri. She lived her entire life in Hale, and was very proud of her home town. She was a 1934 graduate of Hale High School. On September 2, 1939, she married the love of her life, Clarence Merle Kemp and they were blessed with two children. A son, Gordon Walston and a daughter, Linda Merle Oden. Dorothy was a member of the Hale United Methodist Church, where she dedicated many years of service and had a life membership in UMW. She also had a life membership in National Congress of PTA, Order of Eastern Star and PEO. She was proud of being a part of establishing the hot lunch programs at school and organizing the first Hale School Homecoming. Dorothy is survived by her son, Gordon W. Kemp and wife Judy of Gladstone, Missouri; her daughter, Linda M. Oden and husband Bill of Brunswick, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jonne Oden Wilson, Barry Oden and wife Diane, Julie Kemp Carleton and husband Rick, Scott Oden, Susan Kemp Shaw and husband Mike, Timothy Oden and wife Jeanette, Kerri Oden Davis and Christopher Kemp. She was a proud great grandmother of fourteen and four step great grandchildren and a great-great grandmother of four and four step great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Merle, her parents, two brothers, Willard DeBolt and Hugh DeBolt, a sister, Rosalie Huff, and great grandson Alex Carleton. She is survived by sisters, Lois Adams, Elizabeth Barnhart, Frieda Wescott, Shirley Auer, Jerri Baggs, Joan Newport and many nieces and nephews. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend she will be greatly missed, but wonderful memories will be a constant comfort to all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at the Hale United Methodist Church, Hale, Missouri, on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Hale United Methodist Church, Hale, Missouri, on Thursday, August 27, 2015, one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Hale Cemetery, Hale, Missouri.
