Dorothy Ann James, age 86, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at NorthCare Hospice House, North Kansas City, Missouri.
Dorothy was born the daughter of Ralph and Anna (Hargrave) Brown on February 21, 1933, Livingston County, North of Chillicothe, Missouri. After high school, Dorothy went to business school in Davenport, Iowa, and played basketball all over the country, including Mexico City. She was united in marriage to R. Lee James of Breckenridge, Missouri, on February 18, 1956. They were married 56 years. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2012. Dorothy enjoyed watching MU basketball and the Kansas City Royals.
Survivors include two daughters, June Kost and husband Randy of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Janice Hundley and husband Ronnie of Bogard, Missouri; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one sister, Sandra Brown of Chillicothe, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, R. Lee; one daughter, Janet James; and one sister, Shirley Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
