Dorothy Janette Hart

Dorothy Janette Hart, 89, a resident of Chillicothe Missouri, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, in the care of St. Luke's North Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her
greatest joy in spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren, always cherishing the special moments shared with them. She had a
sweet and caring nature, making those around her feel loved and appreciated.
Dorothy was born on March 20, 1935, in Owensville, MO, to the late Floyd and Lorie
(Jett) Farris. She was united in marriage to Johnnie Hart in July, 1952 and worked for
Midwest Gloves early on in her life before moving to Indiana to serve the Lord alongside
her husband as a pastor's wife. After moving back to Chillicothe in the late 80’s, Dorothy
became a member of Church of Christ where she loved spending time with the kids,
VBS and her Sunday school class. She also enjoyed playing cards, working in her
yard, cheering on the Chiefs and Royals and watching game shows. The oldest girl of
fourteen, Dorothy loved her family gatherings and fried the best chicken this side of the
Mississippi.
Survived by her four children- Roger Hart (Sandy), Gary Hart, Janette Hart-Voorhies
(Steve Voorhies) and Donna Smith (Larry); five grandsons- Jonathan Hart, Dane Hart,
Cole Smith, Nicholas Voorhies,and Spencer Hart; two great grandchildren, Linley Grace
and Turner Jonathan Hart; four brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; six sisters; and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held at Union Cemetery, Bland, Missouri on April 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.,
where friends and family are welcomed. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dorothy Hart Memorial
Fund (please make checks payable to J. Hart-Voorhies) and may be left at or mailed to
