Doris Thomas West

Doris T. West Doris Thomas West, formerly of Meadville, Missouri, passed away June 16, 2011 at the age of 83. She resided at Maywood Terrace Living Center in Independence, Missouri. Doris, the only daughter of Herman and Lucy (Ewing) Thomas was born on October 13, 1927 in Linneus, Missouri. She graduated from Meadville High School in 1945 and later attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri. On May 1, 1948, Doris married Gale Franklin West of Wingett Run, Ohio. The two, partners in Thomas and West Farms, shared a passion for flying which led Doris to a student pilot's license. Doris is survived by two sons, Brad West and wife Rebecca of Holt, Missouri and Greg West of Overland Park, Kansas. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Katie West of Lawrence, Kansas; Sarah West of Colorado; Tracia Love and husband Chris of Kansas City, Kansas; and Bradley John West and wife Jennifer of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Gale, her parents and one sister-in-law, Eldene West. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM. A visitation will be held preceding the funeral from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Meadville Cemetery in Meadville, Missouri.
