Doris Snyder, aged 92, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away at Indian Hills Retirement Village, on Sunday, July 11, 2010. She was born on September 26, 1917, the daughter of Lloyd and Wealtha L. (Hickerson) McKee in Sewal, Iowa. She moved to Green City, Missouri when she was five years old and has lived in Missouri since. On November 4, 1933, she married Harrison Snyder in Kirksville, Missouri. They moved to Sampsel, Missouri in 1935. Mrs. Snyder has lived in the Chillicothe area since 1935. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and never worked outside the home until the death of her husband in 1959. She was Sampsel Township Tax Collector in the early sixties and a Teachers aide in the Chillicothe RII Schools for fifteen years, retiring in 1983. Mrs. Snyder loved growing a garden and flowers. Her idea of a vacation was growing a huge garden to share with family and friends. She is survived by five children, Bill Snyder and daughter-in-law Annette of Chillicothe, Missouri, Richard Snyder and daughter-in-law Connie, of Chillicothe, Missouri, Sharon Kay Borrosco of Newbury Park, California, Jani Rolon of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, Joni Bingham and son-in-law Dennis of Plainfield, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Helen Manning, one brother, Howard McKee and three grandchildren, Monica Van Cleave, William Robert Van Cleave and Carole Snyder. Services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. There will be a family visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call after 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Church or Operation Help and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
