Doris Dean Bowes

Doris Dean (Lisenby) Bowes, age 94, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Doris was born the daughter of James Vernon "Vern" and Myrtle Lucile (Mitchell) Lisenby on December 11, 1926, in Bedford, Missouri. She was a 1944 graduate of Avalon High School, Avalon, Missouri. Doris was united in marriage to Francis Guy "Spud" Bowes on March 19, 1948, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, of Avalon, Missouri. She was also a member of the Avalon Rebekah Lodge #855 as a charter member. Doris enjoyed catering, cake decorating, hanging wall paper, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Lynn Gwin and husband, Clark of Chillicothe, Missouri; two sons, Ronald Dale Bowes and wife, Rachel of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Sidney Lee Bowes of Chillicothe, Missouri; nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Gerald Lisenby of Gravois Mills, Missouri and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband "Spud"; two sisters, Donna Taylor and Shirley Ann Watson and grandson Nick Spainhour.
Graveside services will be held at Avalon Cemetery, Avalon, Missouri, on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on January 8, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hale United Methodist Church and/or Avalon Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
