Donald Garrison, age 66, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at his home. Donald was born in Shelbina, Missouri, on August 7, 1944, the son of LaRoy E. and Mildred E. (Brown) Garrison. He was a 1962 graduate from Shelbina High School. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering in 1966. On January 29, 1966, he married Mary Rebecca Dempsey in St. Mary's Church in Shelbina, Missouri. He served in the United States Navy from 1967 until 1970. He attended the Officer's Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He was also stationed in Meridan, Mississippi, at the Naval Air Station. He was employed with Humble Oil in Baton Rouge before being deployed. He attended the Ensign school in Port Hueneme, California. He was deployed to Vietnam in 1968. Don was a co-founder of T-ball in Chillicothe. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 656 and the Knights of Columbus Council 1084. He was an avid basketball and football fan of the University of Missouri. In 1970 he returned to the University of Missouri and received his Masters in Construction Management. He was also employed with Morrison Kundsen Construction in North Dakota and McDougal Hartman in Peoria, Illinois, before coming to Chillicothe. In 1972, he was employed with Irvinbilt Construction Company General Contractors and later became an owner of the company. He is survived by his wife, Becky Garrison, of the home; 1 daughter, Kim, and husband Chris Sieren of Kirksville, Missouri; 3 sons, Joe Garrison of Chillicothe, Missouri; David, and wife Katie of Kansas City, Missouri; and Jake, and wife Julie of Jefferson City, Missouri; 2 brothers, LaRoy, and wife Teresa Garrison of Macon, Missouri, and Loyd, and wife Cindy Garrison of Chesterfield, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Mac, Bailey, and Libby Garrison of Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
