Delbert Melvin Miller, Sr.
Delbert Melvin Miller, Sr., age 85, a resident of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri.
Delbert was born the son of Roy and Lenora (Garrison) Miller on June 5, 1936, in Atchison, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Jonelda Petesch on June 18, 1957, in Potter, Kansas. She survives of the home. Delbert worked as a truck driver for Coca-Cola for 32 years. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Independence, Missouri. He was also a member of the Sunflower Sams Camping Club of Kansas City, Kansas, and GWRRA. Delbert loved motorcycles and trout fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Miller of the home; three sons, Delbert Miller, Jr., of Breckenridge, Missouri, Larry Miller and domestic partner Peggy of Independence, Missouri, and Donald Miller and wife Tonia of Independence, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Broadway of Georgia, and Virginia Hosman of Blue Springs, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Frances Miller; one granddaughter, Rebecca Curtis; one grandson, Dakota Stukes; one sister, Lenora Robbins; and one brother, John Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Independence, Missouri, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 12 noon. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Missouri, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge, Missouri, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
