Claude E. Cooper Claude Cooper, age 92, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospice, Kansas City, Missouri. Claude was born the son of Herman and Effie (McCracken) Cooper on August 15, 1923, in Carroll County, Missouri. He served in the United States Army Air Corp as an airplane mechanic from 1942 until 1944. He was united in marriage to Ruth Rose on August 9, 1947, in Carrollton, Missouri. Claude worked as a carpenter, farmer, and business man. He was owner and operator of Morning Star, Y Inn, and Friendly Taverns. He also owned and operated a vending machine business, rental properties, trucking business, and innovated a patent for a hot tamale machine. Claude built and operated the Holiday Motel and a mobile home park. He was a member of the Highview Baptist Church, Chillicothe, and a former member of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles Aerie 2428, Elk Lodge 656, and a member of Vern R. Glick American Legion Post 25 of Chillicothe, Missouri. Survivors include wife Ruth Cooper of the home; two sons Curtis Cooper and wife Joyce of Shawnee, Kansas, and Mike Cooper and wife Susan of Kerbyville, Missouri; two daughters Darlene Cook of Kansas City, Missouri, and Deborah Kincade and husband David of Jefferson City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Mitchell Cooper; two infant sisters; and son-in-law James Cook. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, March 7, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. There will be a family visitation at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, March 6, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Sunday, March 6, 2016, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Blue Mound Cemetery, Blue Mound, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Mound Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
