Clara Lucille Leakey

Clara Lucille Leakey Clara Lucille Leakey, age 95, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Clara was born the daughter of Leonard Thomas Hawkins and Cora Mae (Schutz) Hawkins on March 20, 1923 in Carroll County, Missouri. She spent her childhood working on the farm. Clara was a 1940 graduate of Stet High School. She married Roy Leakey on June 16, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 2003. In 1960, they bought a farm in rural Braymer, Missouri, where they lived the duration of their lives. They made farming a huge part of their lives. She enjoyed being a homemaker and a farm wife as she loved gardening and mowing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Braymer where she was very active. Clara previously had worked at the Lake City Ammunition Plant during WW11, Montgomery Wards and the Toy Factory in Braymer. Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia (Leakey) Fitzwater and husband, Chris, of Braymer, Missouri; five grandchildren: Tyler Fitzwater and Aimee Fitzwater, both of Braymer, Missouri, Eric Leakey and wife, Taneesia, of Raymore, Missouri, Nick Leakey and wife, Andrea, of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Norman Leakey of Carrollton, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy, three sons, Leonard Allen Leakey, Clay Junior Leakey, and infant, Rex Leakey; sister, Elsie Lorene Hilton, and brother, Earl Hawkins. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Monday, September 17, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
