Charles Richard ("Dobe") Young, 70, of Chillicothe, Missouri, with family by his side, died on January 13, 2011 at NorthCare Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital after a brave battle with cancer. Dobe was born on January 4, 1941 in Humphreys, Missouri, to Kenneth and Lois (Sayer) Young. He graduated from Meadville High School and attended Northeast Missouri State University. Dobe moved to Chillicothe, Missouri, after he married his high school sweetheart, Judy Meneely, on June 12, 1960. He worked at Donaldson Co. for 41 years, with most of those years spent in a management capacity, retiring at age 60 as Tool & Die Coordinator. Dobe was a talented musician and spent many hours after his retirement entertaining in different venues with his band, the Rusty Strings. When he wasn't entertaining, he and Judy enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren and watched numerous sporting events over the years. He is survived by his wife Judy, son Rich Young of Kansas City, Missouri; son Rob Young and his wife Cori of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter Pam Nickle and her husband Pat of Olathe, Kansas; and son Jason Young; brother Randall ("Dyke") Young; uncle W.E. Sayers and aunt Carole Phillips. He is also survived by seven adoring grandchildren: granddaughter Ashley Young, grandsons Tyler, Shane and Brett Nickle, granddaughters Catherine and Lizzy Young and grandson Jack Young. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his brother Kenneth ("Bud") Young. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a scheduled family visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call on Monday after 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Burial will be in the Haseville Cemetery, Humphreys, Missouri.
