Charles Edward Watkins, of Braymer, Missouri died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the home. He was born on June 3, 1927 in Dawn, Missouri to the late Allen and Ruth (Wells) Watkins. He graduated in 1945 from Agency Iowa High School and immediately left for the United States Navy where he served in World War II. On June 6, 1947, he married his wife of sixty-two years, Maxine Caldwell. After graduating from Northwest Missouri State, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he worked for the U.S. Government for twenty-five years at the Defense Mapping Agency. After retiring he returned to Braymer where he was an active member and deacon at Braymer Baptist Church and in the community. He delivered Meals on Wheels for twenty years, helped start the Braymer Community Outreach, and worked with his wife planning the Braymer Community Senior dinners. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael Watkins. He is survived by his wife, one sister, Wilma Busey of Oklahoma, two daughters; Mary Ellen (Melvin) Krohne of Liberty, Missouri and Barbara Jo (Stephens) Withers of Attleboro, Massachusetts and one daughter-in-law, Karen Watkins of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Renee Krohne, Steven Withers, Jr. and wife Ruthanne, Matthew Krohne and wife Laura, Kyle and Gregory Withers, and Christopher Watkins. Also, one great-grandson, Zachary Withers. Services will be held at the Braymer Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a family visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Braymer Baptist Church. Friends may call Pitts Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Church Mission Fund or to the American Legion Tweedie-Murray Post #117 and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Pitts Funeral Home, P.O.
