Charles C. Emerich Charles C. Emerich, age 87, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Charles was born on July 19, 1925, in Greencastle, Indiana, to Harry and Ida Mae (Frey) Emerich. He was raised by his mother and grandfather. At age fourteen, he moved to northern Indiana to live with his sister and her husband, near Remington, Indiana. He attended Remington High School. Charles was a member of the United States Army 511th Paratroop Infantry from February 1945 to September 1946. He was involved in the Philippine Liberation and occupation of Japan. He was united in marriage to Retha Shoultz on June 12, 1953, near Wolcott, Indiana. She survives of the home. Charles moved to Chillicothe in 1955. He worked for Milbank Mills for 39 years. Charles enjoyed working outdoors, mowing the lawn, helping Retha plant shrubs and flowers, repairing mechanical equipment, making repairs to the house, enjoying their dogs and cats, and visiting with children and grandchildren. Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in 1949 in a small country Church near Indiana. He was a member of the First Christian Church for many years, where he served as a Deacon and Elder. Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 21 years. He enjoyed attending Sunday school and Worship Service, until he became physically handicapped in 2005.
