Charles R. Casebeer Charles R. Casebeer, age 82, a resident of Chula, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Charles was born in New Franklin, Missouri, on September 29, 1928, the son of Raymond Stanton and Harriet "Hattie" Lou (Hooker) Casebeer. He graduated from Waverly High School and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri with a degree in Agriculture. He served in the United States Army as an advanced Infantry Instructor. During the Korean War he served with the 158th Field Artillery Battalion as a Cannoneer. He worked as a farmer for most of his life and had also worked for Donaldson's in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was as an Eagle Scout, and also served as a Boy Scout leader. He served on the Chula Co-Op Board of Directors, and was an avid conservationist. He loved spending time with his dog, where they would take long walks in the woods. He was very fond of his nieces and nephews. Survivors include a brother Oran Taylor "O.T." Casebeer and wife Ruth of Ithaca, New York; sister-in-law Marsue Casebeer of Trenton, Missouri; first cousins, Charles Hooker of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, Taylor Hooker of Griggsville, Illinois, Dixie Bohn of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Thompson of Chillicothe, Missouri, Mary Feit of Florida, Betty Anderson of Pennsylvania, Martha Hooker of Maryland, Coulter Hooker of Oregon, Michael Hooker of Pennsylvania, John Kuller of Palm Desert California and Kathy Throckmorton of Santa Clara California; one nephew, Carl Nelson and wife Suzanne of California; two nieces, Susanne Nelson Wilburn and husband Jim of California and Kristen Nelson Sanchez and husband Juan of New York. He is also survived by several more cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David Hooker Casebeer, Lawrence Eugene Casebeer and John Stanton Casebeer; sister, Mary Ruth Casebeer; and niece Cynthia Casebeer. Memorial services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Friday, March 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation will be held on Friday one hour prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Friends may call on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the May Cemetery at Chula, Missouri at a later date.
