Charles Lowell Bennett
Charles Lowell Bennett, age 98, a resident of Cameron, Missouri, formerly of Tina, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, Missouri
Lowell was born the son of Carl T. and C. Lenore (Bethel) Bennett on September 22, 1922, in Kingston, Missouri. He attended West Prairie School North of Kingston, Missouri, and Kingston High School, graduating in 1941. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1947, serving at Olathe Naval Air Base and at Guam in the South Pacific. Lowell was united in marriage to Doris Lay on February 2, 1948, in Steffenville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 3, 2003. He was then united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Myers on May 31, 2003, in Hamilton, Missouri. She survives of the home. Lowell worked for Fruehauf Trailer Company until his service began in the military. After returning to the Hamilton area, he went into the family produce business for a number of years. In 1960, he began a career with Cameron Mutual Insurance, and then became an independent agent and secretary-treasurer of Farmers Cooperative Insurance Company of Tina, Missouri, until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church, Carrollton, Missouri. Lowell loved to travel and had been to all fifty states, and was an R.A.O club member. Lowell was the past chairman of the Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, and was a volunteer of H.E.L.P services of Carrollton. He also served as the Mayor of Tina, Missouri.
Survivors include two sons, Craig Bennett and wife Peggy of Kansas city, Missouri, and Mark Bennett and wife Marilyn of Fair Grove, Missouri; one daughter, Elaine Posegate and husband Geoff of West Plains, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Also surviving are four step children, Paula Rooney and husband David of Cameron, Missouri, Lynette Goll of Hamilton, Missouri, Gregg Richards and wife Mary Ann, of Fulton, Missouri, and Leslie Hodge and husband Steve of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Doris; two grandchildren; one brother, John; and one sister, Doris Vaughan.
Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Missouri, on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Tina, Missouri, on Friday, March 5, 2021, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to H.E.L.P.
