Charles Harrison Baxter, Sr.
Charles Harrison Baxter, Sr., age 71, a resident of Breckenridge, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at his residence.
Charles was born the son of Eugene F. and Charlotte (Pelton) Baxter on October 13, 1949, in Gary, Indiana. He was a 1967 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School, Dubuque, Iowa. He served in the United States Army Airborne during the Vietnam War. Charles worked for the Street Department in Hamilton, Missouri. He also worked as a self-employed long haul truck driver for many years, and as a mechanic for Fast Lanes Bowling Alley in Chillicothe, Missouri. He attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hamilton, Missouri. Charles loved bowling. He loved watching and feeding birds, and recognized their calls. Charles loved country living and his red truck.
Survivors include his significant other, Theresa Heim of home; one son, Charles H. Baxter, Jr., of Dubuque, Iowa; two daughters, Tammy Harwick and husband Daniel of Dyersville, Iowa, and Candace Dalsing and husband Todd of Dubuque, Iowa; eight grandchildren; one brother, Frances Baxter of Alaska; one sister, Pamela Frederick of Dubuque, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Eugene Baxter, Jr.
Cremation was held. No services are scheduled at this time. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
