Charles Murray Anderson, age 86, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at The Baptist Home, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Charles was born the only child of Jack Murray and Doris Marie (Clark) Anderson on December 2, 1933, in Grundy County, Missouri. He graduated from Laredo High School, Laredo, Missouri, in 1951, as salutatorian. He was united in marriage to Velma May Thomas on August 9, 1953, at the Alpha Baptist Church in Laredo, Missouri. Charles worked for C.M. Livingston Construction, Harold Atkins Construction, Jack Ballantine Construction, Wick Mobile Home Factory as a foreman of the cabinet shop, MFA Oil, and retired after a few years of being a self-employed carpenter. He built four homes for he and his wife. He was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Charles enjoyed quail and deer hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and especially spending those winter months after retirement in Brownsville, Texas, and Apache Junction, Arizona.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Anderson of the home; In-laws, Ed (Barbara) Thomas, Jean Constant, and Barbara (Dal) Duemey all of Chillicothe, Missouri, Peggy Gardner of Meadville, Missouri, Dorothy (Bill) Meeker of Laredo, Missouri, Judy Thomas of Chula, Missouri, and Carol Horton of Easton, Missouri. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, James Ray Thomas, Donald Joseph (Joe) Constant, Dale Lee Gardner, and James (Jim) Edwin Horton.
Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, June 22, 2020, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alpha Cemetery and/or the North Central Missouri Baptist Home and/or St. Luke's Hospice and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Online condolences may be made at www.lindleyfuneralhomes.com .
