Cecil Dwaine Samm, Sr. Cecil Dwaine Samm, Sr. age 79, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Indian Hills Retirement Village in Chillicothe, Missouri. Cecil was born the son of Walter and Clara (Wilcox) Samm on April 12, 1932, in Chula, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Keenan on February 17, 1951, in Moline, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2003. He worked as a Custodian at the Chula School. Cecil attended the Highview Baptist Church. He loved working on cars, and taking drives on the weekends. Cecil was a people person, he never met a stranger. Survivors include two sons, Cecil Samm, Jr. and wife Brenda of Chillicothe, Missouri, Alan Ray Samm of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter Marsha Jones of Springfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Amy Gilgour and husband David of Chillicothe, Missouri, Scottie Samm of Chillicothe, Missouri, Jeremy Jones, Patrick Jones, and Billy Jones of Springfield, Missouri, Tiffany Samm of Chillicothe, Missouri, Sydney Eckert of California, and Brandon Clevenger of Liberty, Missouri; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Hawks of Kansas City, Missouri, Lela F. Chapins of Chula, Missouri; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara; three brothers, Ray, John, and Clifford Samm; four sisters, Grace, Dorothy, Hazel, and Betty. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. A family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 22, 2012, one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Plainview Cemetery, Chula, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plainview Cemetery and/or the Highview Baptist Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
