Carolyn Sue "Susie" Van Horn Carolyn Sue Van Horn, age 63, a resident of Utica, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at her residence. Susie was born the daughter of Edward and Mary (Boone) Brown on August 9, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a 1969 graduate of Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, Missouri. Susie spent many years as a farm wife raising her children and taking care of her animals. In 1993 Susie attended Wichita Nursing School, Wichita, Kansas, where she received her LPN License. She then moved to Gilson, Illinois for 17 years until moving to Utica, Missouri in 2010. While living in Illinois she worked as an LPN at Henry Hills Prison, Galesburg, Illinois. Susie attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. She had a love for animals, especially horses. Survivors include mother, Mary Minnis of Chillicothe, Missouri; three sons John Clark of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert Clark of Brookfield, Missouri, and Sam Van Horn of Wataga, Illinois; five brothers, Warren Minnis of Chillicothe, Missouri, Robert Minnis of Higginsville, Missouri, Darrell Minnis of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, Gary Brown of Granbury, Texas, and Donald Brown of Florida; three sisters, Patricia Minnis of Chillicothe, Missouri, Wynona Gross of Richmond, Missouri, and Janet Baker of Chillicothe, Missouri; and two grandchildren Brendan Clark and Brodie Van Horn. She was preceded in death by her father Ed Brown and stepfather Bob Minnis. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, September 29, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
