Carolyn Ruth (Wagy) Saale Carolyn Ruth (Wagy) Saale, age 91, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Carolyn was born the night Lindberg landed in Paris, May 21, 1927, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Carroll Samuel and Ruth (Kessler) Wagy. On February 18, 1952, she married William J. Saale in Harrison, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2009. Carolyn was a 1945 graduate of Chillicothe High School and a 1947 graduate of Chillicothe Business College. She worked for the War Effort in the Chief Accounting Office in Washington, D.C. during the summers of her junior and senior years of high school. She worked at the Chillicothe Draft Board in the old Federal Building, drafting many of her classmates into World War II. She also worked at Prudential Insurance. She served as a Trustee of the Florence Pendleton College Loan Fund for over 20 years, was a member of the initial citywide recycling effort, and was active in Brownie, Junior, and Cadette Girl Scouting. She delivered Meals on Wheels, and attended the St. Columban's Catholic Church with her husband. She loved the outdoors and playing golf with her foursome of Nellie Allnut, Pat Botts, and Katie Cole. Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Richards and husband Mike of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary Turner and husband Brent of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Ruth Saale of Prairie Village, Kansas; one son, Daniel Saale of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren, Adam Saale, Danielle (Saale) Millard and husband Ben, Ellyn and Laura Turner, and Andrew Richards; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Lake, and Margaret Henkle; and one brother, James K. Wagy. A graveside service will be held at St. Columban's Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation.
