Carol Kathryn Neal Carol Kathryn Neal, age 89, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at home with her family. Carol was born the daughter of George Carey and Zula Mae (Combs) Krause on February 2, 1925, in Parsons, Kansas. She was a 1943 graduate of Parsons High School, Parsons, Kansas. She was a talented musician during her youth and young adulthood. She played the piano, organ, cello, and was in the women's drum corp. After graduation, she attended Washington University School of Nursing at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. It was there that she met the love of her life, John R. Neal (Jack), who was a dental student at Washington University School of Dentistry in St. Louis. They united in marriage on August 31, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, where Dr. Neal was in military training for the WWII Army Dental Corp at Fort Sam Houston. Dr. Neal was assigned to the 250th Station Hospital in Regensburg, Germany. Carol joined him there and they spent 2 years in the Occupation Forces. After their assignment was over, they returned to civilian life and relocated to Chillicothe, where they have lived to the present. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, where she was active in the Dorcas Lydia Circle United Methodist Women, and the United Methodist Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Chapter T, Chillicothe Culture Club, American Legion Auxiliary, the Grand River Historical Society, and for many years was the Education Chairman of the Livingston County American Cancer Society. Survivors include her husband Jack of the home; two sons, John "Greg" Neal and wife Jan of Pheonix, Arizona, and Drs. David and Jane Neal of Chillicothe, Missouri; two daughters, Cheryl Volckmann and husband John of Woodside, California, and Lori Duncan and husband Randy of Overland Park, Kansas; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Mabel Neal; one brother, Lyle Krause; one sister, Maurine Reagan. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
