Carl Wilbur Hart Carl Wilbur Hart, age 89, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012, at Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri. Carl Wilbur Hart, was born the son of Arthur and Nellie (Graves) Hart, north of Hale on November 8, 1922, near Morgan School, the same school he attended. Carl farmed until April 1944 when he entered the Army with the 42nd Rainbow Division of the 7th Army, 232nd Infantry, Company E as a machine gunner. He served in the European Theatre which included The Battle of the Bulge as well as other major battles. He helped liberate the infamous Dachau concentration camp and was assigned as prison guard in Austria which held Hitler's high-ranking Nazi officers for the Nurnberg trial in Germany. He began working for Brammer Produce on March 1, 1949. He was "grinding feed" when Floyd and Hazel Dye owned Dye Phosphate & Grain and continued with MFA until January 2004 when a diabetic infection caused the below knee amputation of his right leg. Carl married Donna Sharleen Goff on May 27, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on January 16, 1996. Carl loved trains, tractors, and quite the animal lover. And he always wanted to keep up with everything in Hale. He enjoyed sharing his war experiences and memorabilia with the staff and visitors at both nursing homes and area schools including students from Park University in Parkville, Missouri. He shared his memories with one thought in mind - making sure the younger generations are aware of the horrific events of World War II. To add to his pride of serving our country, Carl was presented with The Bronze Star Medal in a ceremony at the Armory in Chillicothe, Missouri in 2008 by U.S. Representative Sam Graves. His greatest enjoyment was the many visits from family and friends - especially those who made sure "Uncle Carl" and "Daddy" had everything he needed and more!
