C. Ellen Miller, age 97, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away at Indian Hills - A Stonebridge Community, Chillicothe, Missouri. Wednesday, October 6, 2010. She was born daughter of William Arthur and Sarah Anna May (McLey) Terhune on May 5, 1913, in Harrison County, Missouri. On December 29, 1937, she married A. Austin Miller, who preceded her in death on January 17, 1998. Ellen is a Gilman City High School graduate, and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in teaching from Kirksville State Teachers College. She retired from the Chillicothe school district. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, a 50 year member of Eastern Star, Retired Teachers Association (RTA), Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA), Hannah Circle, Harmony Homemakers, Rebeka Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. Ellen is survived by her two daughters Mary Ellen Russell of Kansas City, Missouri, and Shirley Ann Griffith and husband Steve of Lee's Summit, Missouri; sister Dorothy Mullins of Trenton, Missouri; four grandchildren Robert Austin Russell, and wife Laura of Madison Wisconsin, Carolyn Ann Arnold and husband Jeff of Kansas City, Missouri Jeffrey Mark Griffith and fiancé Taylore Grafton of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Amy Ellen Griffith and fiancé Colin Brown of Lee's Summit, Missouri; two great grandchildren Jack and Ainsley Arnold of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters Mildred King, Ethel Tout, Loretta Hobbs, Wilfreda Robb, Ruby Terhune; five brothers Roy Terhune, Bill Terhune, Ralph Terhune, Loren Terhune, Howard Terhune; son-in-law Donald M. Russell. Services will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. There will be a scheduled family visitation at the United Methodist Church Sunday, October 10 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
