Bruce M. Mccoy

Bruce M. McCoy, age 53, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. Bruce was born on December 28, 1956 in Chillicothe, Missouri, the son of Dr. Chad and Elizabeth "Betty" (Whitlow) McCoy. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1975 and the University of Missouri- Rolla in Rolla, Missouri in 1981 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Bruce moved here from Springfield, Missouri in 1992 and prior lived in Andover, Kansas and Indianapolis, Indiana. On September 8, 1997, he married Peggy (Berry) of Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives of the home. He worked at Boeing Aviation as an electrical engineer specializing in Fiber Optics. He worked on the installation of the Fiber Optics that were placed on Air Force One. Bruce was an avid pool player. He was also on the staff of Camp Geiger where he was an Archery instructor. Bruce was an Eagle Scout. He was a Runner in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Bruce was part of several High Adventure Scouting trips including hiking in Philmont, canoeing in Canada, and SCUBA diving in Florida. Bruce was an All-State Basketball player at Chillicothe High School where he played basketball from 1971-1975. He also participated in track where he was a high jumper. Survivors include, wife Peggy of the home; father Chad and step-mother, Sharon of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother Rolfe C. McCoy and wife, Julie of Chillicothe, Missouri; two sisters, Chrysa Niewald and husband, Richard of Owensville, Missouri, Claudia Perry of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" McCoy on April 18, 2007. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. There will be a Parish Rosary on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri with a Visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Interment will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
