Bonnie Jean Council Bonnie Jean Council, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, Missouri. Bonnie was born the daughter of Lewis and Virginia (Merrick) Melton on June 4, 1932, in Humphreys, Missouri. She was a 1949 graduate of Meadville High School. Bonnie was united in marriage to Harold Russell Council on January 9, 1976, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2004. Bonnie enjoyed traveling, shopping, camping, going to the coffee shop, cooking, and holiday decorating in her home. She loved her cat, "Rusty". Survivors include four daughters, Debbie Gudgell and husband Ben of Meadville, Missouri, Rhonda Creason and husband Kenny of Purdin, Missouri, Dana Williams and husband Neil of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Kim Summerville and husband Randy of Lee's Summit, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Angie Shiflett of Blue Mound, Missouri, Stephanie Nickell and husband John of Chillicothe, Missouri, Christina Bloss and husband Brent of Meadville, Missouri, Amanda Hollon of Liberty, Missouri, Nicholas Creason of Conroe, Texas, Christopher Whiteside of Jacksonville, Florida, Cody Whiteside of Chillicothe, Missouri, Chase Whiteside and wife Jaci of Hale, Missouri, Colton Whiteside of Florence, Arizona, Shelby Summerville and boyfriend Cole of Kansas City, Missouri, and Megan Callahan and husband Matt of Lee's Summit, Missouri; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Kay Manning of Wildomar, California, Judy Hicks of Plattsburg, Missouri, Linda Miller Rinard, Iowa, Junior Melton and wife Dana of Chillicothe, Missouri, Rick Melton and wife Dana of Meadville, Missouri, James Melton of St. Joseph, Missouri, Terry Melton, Gaye Lukesitich, and Mary Jo O'Brien. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; two brothers, James and Norris Melton; and one sister, Elizabeth Tompkins. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand River Multi-Purpose Center and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
