Bob D. Hays Bob D. Hays, age 83, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Bob was born on April 18, 1929 in Littleton, Illinois, to James L. and Hazel (Wood) Hays. On February 7, 1969, Bob and Martha Frith Hays were married in Kirksville, Missouri. To this union, Robert Lee Hays, of McAllen Texas and Beth Ann Hays Putrah, of Holliday, Missouri, were born. Martha survives of the home. Bob served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1948 in occupied Germany following World War II as a Rifle Man 745. Bob was active in Chillicothe and Livingston County activities. He was President of the Chillicothe Shriners Club, member of the First Baptist Church, where he served on the finance committee and as an usher, a member of the Moila Shriners, St. Joseph, Legion of Honor of Moila Temple, and a charter member of Chillicothe Elks Lodge 656. Bob owned a Culligan Water Company in Kirksville, where he lived until December 1962, when he moved to Chillicothe. Bob was Greens' superintendent of the Chillicothe Country Club Golf Course, and Deputy Sheriff of the Livingston County Sheriff's Department. He served as Chillicothe Township Assessor for 18 years, and was elected as the First Livingston County Assessor and served for 7 years. Survivors include his wife, Martha of 53 years; one son, Robert Lee Hays and wife He Young of McAllen, Texas; one daughter, Beth Ann Hays Putrah and husband Daniel of Holliday, Missouri; five grandchildren, Burton Putrah of Washington D.C., Ann Putrah of Lawrence, Kansas, Conrad Putrah of Laramie, Wyoming, Stephen Frith Hays of McAllen, Texas, Susan Carlyle Hays of Chillicothe, Missouri; two brothers, Clifford Hays and wife Diane of Springfield, Missouri, and James Hays and wife Karen of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Freda Greear of Loveland, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Drs. Sharron Quisenberry and husband Larry of Ames, Iowa, Lori Spangrud and husband David of Pensacola, Florida, Rodney Bailey and wife Susie of Columbia, Missouri, Carolyn Bailey of St. Louis, Missouri, Greg Greear of Loveland, Colorado, Mike Greear and wife Dawn of Eagle, Colorado, Charlie Stanek and husband Jeff of Alpharetta, Georgia, Matt Hays and wife Lori of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Alan Hays and wife Karie of Vallejo, California, Herb Hays and wife Cindy of Lincoln, California, Jim Hays and wife Shelly of Tigard, Oregon, and Ronda Jo Jolls and husband Rick of Norman, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Mary Bruns of Pensacola, Florida, Sally Hays of Vacaville, California, Phyllis Hays of Elk Grove, California; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard and Don Hays; two sisters, Evelyn Milliron and Bonnie Bailey; maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents. Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, June 30, 2012, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke's Cardiac ICU and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
